Solution

- Two big villages
namely downstream village and upstream village
- Ritual meals or
feast day
- In Sampan to the
feast
- Closing time of the
ritual
|
- Lebai Malang
- His dog
- All people in both
villages
- Imams
|
- Lebai Malang was
invited to have ritual meals by two villages, upstream and downstream
village. He confused about which feast he would like to attend. Villagers in
upstream slaughtered only one buffalo but they cooked it deliciously.
Villagers in downstream slaughtered two buffaloes but they cooked it less
delicious.
|
- Lebai Malang wanted
to attend ritual meals from both of the villages.
- Because of his
greediness and being wishy-washy, he couldn’t have the right time to get his
spare.
- His chili paste was
thrown away and his dog ate his rice.
|
He got nothing and felt hungry.
|
- He kept thinking
that way and still felt confused on the way to the feast. He could not get
his decision whether he attended the feast or ritual meals in upstream or
downstream. When he rowed to downstream for a certain distance, he remembered
he would get two horns in upstream village. And he returned upstream. When he
returned upstream for a certain distance, he remembered the delicious meals
in downstream. He did like that back and forth in two or three times. Then he
rowed upstream and found that his spare upstream was gone. The Imam (leader)
of the ritual meals was already reciting the prayer when he arrived. Then, we
rowed seriously downstream and found that he lost his spare, too there
because the Imam was also already reciting the prayer.
- Then, he arranged to
go fishing or his meal for the next fortune. He decided to row back to
fetch the fishing line and some cold rice with chili and shrimp paste. He
also brought his dog because he thought if there wasn’t any fish he got, he
would hunt mouse deer. He did fishing and put his dog behind him.
- While the fishing
line was in the water, he felt hungry. He opened the puck of rice. When he
wanted to take the chili sauce, he dropped it to the water unintentionally.
When he bowed his head and his hand was in the water, his dog jumped at the
rice and ate it.
